Since joining the RICH program several years ago, I have experienced a distinct change in my personal outlook. Being apart of the RICH program and learning about the RICH principles has helped me realize that it's my opinion of me that is most significant. The principle "I matter" has been cruicial in getting this point across to me. Another principle that has also been quite important is the principle "I am responsible for my behavior". This principle has helped me to take charge in shaping my life to my own satisfaction. It has helped me to involve myself in positive activities and to make sure I'm surrounded by positive people.

It could have been me. I could have been the guy caught up in drugs and violence with no immediate future but one of hardship and pain. That could have been me but it's not! When I began attending the RICH program back in the third grade, changes were made in my life. No longer was I the student consistently in trouble. I attribute these changes to the RICH principle "I Matter." This simple phrase allowed me to overcome obstacles that were in my way. It no longer mattered what my peers and others were doing. I had a goal in mind and believing that I mattered help me to achieve my goal. To this day "I Matter" is helping me to achieve my goals.

Today I come back to the RICH program because I want for someone else to be able to say along with me "I'm still strong, I'm still standing." I desire to see the students of today live their lives to the fullest. I tire of hearing of the negative. By my continued participation in the RICH program, I hope to properly nurture the leaders of tomorrow. I want them to be able to say "I matter" with pride knowing that whatever obstacles come across their way, they will stay strong and they will keep standing.

The RICH Program is a very good program for people both young and old. I've been acquainted with RICH ever since I was in the third grade. The RICH program helped me by giving me a new way to look at life. I changed my point of view on everything. Now I really know that I matter, I love myself, I am able to help my fellow brothers and sisters out whenever they need help. My whole attitude is changed. I can now say that I am and will remain somebody in this world.

When I first became involved in the RICH program it was to please my principle, parents, and teachers. After a couple of weeks in the program I realized it was beneficial for me. The Saturday sessions started out as my time to vent and express whatever was on my mind. As time went on the four principles became instilled in me and the Saturday sessions became a place for me to showcase my new and improved attitude and behavior.
